Meet Christopher

I was a teenager when I built my first website — and I never really stopped.

It was 1998, back in the dial-up days. I was obsessed with StarCraft, so I taught myself HTML, Perl, and CGI — and enough design to make it look the part — and built Brood War Dynasty. It wasn’t luck. It was a lot of late nights, reading and building and breaking things until they worked, because I loved it. It grew into a small network that hosted other fan sites, earned real ad revenue, and landed a two-page spread in PC Gamer — while I was still in school. I was early, and I put in the work. I still do.

The Blizzard Dynasty fan site Christopher built, captured April 2001: the masthead banner, the Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo section navigation, and the first news headline dated 4/4/2001.

Nearly thirty years in technology now, the last fifteen on the real enterprise stack — the EHRs, lab systems (LIS), PIMS, and the proprietary tools nobody else wants to touch — the systems hospitals, labs, and large businesses actually run on. Long enough to see how the industry treats people: jargon, gatekeeping, and a junior tech reading off a script.

Powers Computing is the opposite. Call or text and you get me — not a queue, not a bot, not someone three steps removed from the fix. I’ll tell you straight what’s worth doing, do it right, and explain what happened so you’re never in the dark.

The reason I use AI out in the open, while a lot of the industry still treats it as taboo? Same instinct that put me online in 1998. I’ve always been early — and I’ve always done the work to back it up. This is just the next shift — and I pass the savings to you.

How I work

Clear from the first text to the last.

The same simple promise, whether it’s a home laptop or a small office network.

  • Honesty, every time
  • No gatekeeping
  • You keep the knowledge
  1. You tell me what’s wrong.

Text, call, or email — whatever’s easiest. Plain English, no form to fill out, no being “qualified” first.

  2. You get a straight answer and a clear price.

What’s actually going on, what it’ll take, and what it costs — before any work starts. No surprises on the bill.

  3. I do it right and show you what happened.

The work gets done properly, and I explain it so you understand it and can avoid the same trouble next time.

The leg-up

I use AI in the open — and pass the savings to you.

Most of the industry treats AI as either taboo or a buzzword. I treat it like what it is: a tool that makes the work faster and cheaper. The way “just Google it” became normal, this is becoming normal too. I’m just honest about it.

Faster diagnosis

AI gets me to the root of a problem quicker, so you spend less time waiting and less on the clock.

Lower cost to you

Less time on the job means a smaller bill — that savings goes to you, not into padding.

And I’ll show you how

No black box: ask where AI saved you time or money on a job, and I’ll walk you through it.

What I can help with

Real problems, plain answers.

For homes and small businesses across the Capital Region. If it plugs in or connects, I can probably help.

“It just stopped working.”

Slow machines, setups gone sideways, the thing that worked yesterday and doesn’t today. I’ll find it, fix it, and tell you why it happened.

Wi-Fi that won’t reach.

Dead spots, dropouts, the back bedroom that never gets a signal. I’ll get every room covered and your network running reliably.

A PC built right.

Workstations and gaming rigs spec’d to your budget and built to last — no upsell, no parts you don’t need.

A small office, networked.

Set up a new office or clean up a messy one — wired and wireless, secure, and built so it just works for your team.

Buy it or skip it?

Straight advice on what to buy, what to skip, and what’s actually worth fixing — clear answers before you spend a dollar.

Reach me directly

You reach Christopher — the actual expert, not a queue.

No form that disappears into a void. No “we’ll get back to you.” You text, call, or email, and it comes straight to me. Texting is easiest — it goes right to my cell.

New name. Not a new hand. Powers Computing is new — the nearly thirty years behind it isn’t.
